Select your skin type
Your skin type is determined by several factors, including genetics, age, and environment. Your skin type influences things such as water retention, oil production, sensitivity, and your probability to certain skin conditions. Keep in mind these guides are to help your overall skin type, not necessarily any skin conditions like dehydration, hypo/hyper pigmentation, acne, etc. To target specific conditions, we highly suggest seeing an esthetician for treatments.
Dry skin produces less oil than normal skin. As a result of the lack of oil, dry skin lacks the lipids that it needs to retain moisture and build a protective shield against external influences.
Characteristics of dry skin:
Feels Tight
Red or Flaky Patches
Small to Invisible Pores
Dull complexion
Fine lines are more visible
Normal skin is well-balanced skin. Normal skin is less likely to suffer from skin conditions and appears clear, radiant, and healthy. Normal skin is more likely to occur in younger people.
Characteristics of normal skin:
No or few imperfections
No severe sensitivity
Barely visible or fine pores
Skin is neither too oily or too dry.
Oily skin happens when your skin makes too much oil. While oil helps protect and hydrate the skin, it can also cause the pores to clog and cause acne.
Characteristics of oily skin:
Shiny
Often has breakouts
Less visible wrinkles
Visible and enlarged looking pores all over
Lots of peach fuzz
Makeup may wear off easily
Combination skin is the most common skin type and is characterized by a mix of oily skin and dry skin in different areas of the face.
People with combination skin types will have oily skin in their t-zone. Dry skin typically affects the cheeks, mouth, and eyes due to a lack of oil production in these areas.
Characteristics of combo skin:
Oily skin centered around the chin, nose, and forehead
Especially prone to acne on the chin, nose, and forehead
Mouth, eyes, and cheeks may have dry or normal skin
Enlarged pores around chin, nose and forehead
